Going to school & some Biscotti

Oooh! What fun! What excitement! I had my first 2 days at school this week. Granted, they were just 2 half days of induction talks, but still... a preview of the good things to come.

My favourite part was the talk about which knives we need and information about the various knife makers. I was really looking forward to buying the knives, but I have to admit... deciding on what to buy, is terrible confusing! Japanese? German? French? Trying to get a clearer idea by reading some articles. Cutting Remarks by Travis Neighbor Ward  has been a good start.

I still have 2 weeks to go, until the term starts officially and in the mean time, I have another thing to look forward to. Handz by Patz will be having a stall in the Patches Market during the Notte Bianca event in Valletta, Malta. I'm preparing a nice range of cards for this event, and will also be preparing the Fudge Chocolate Brownies, Cookies and Biscotti... YUMMY!

Let's focus on the Biscotti.... Dark chocolate bits, cacao and walnuts... sounds delicious? They really are! Crispy and crunchy, they really make you want to dunk them into some coffee.... Ah! What more would you want from life? :)

  2. @Zen I wouldn't say we were recommended to buy a specific brand... but some names were mentioned, example:
    Victorinox, Sabatier, Global, Wusthof

Victorinox are the cheapest of them all and you could buy a whole pocket full of knives for a moderate price.

On the otherhand I decided on Wusthof knives... I buy them one at a time cause they're expensive! I decided to get them though, after a lot of research. It looked like they would suit be best in terms of durability and not needing to sharpen them as often as other brands. Also they're quite light and till now I'm very happy with my choice.

A lot of my fellow students have Victorinox knives and they're happy enough with them too... I also know a butcher who uses this same brand, and again - very happy.

In the end, I guess it depends on your budget and what you plan to do with them.

    Good luck :-D

  3. Thank you so much. I'll jot the names down in my notebook and will be on the lookout for them. I've got Shogun knives at home...- don't think they compare with the brands you mentioned, but well they've lasted so far..
